Born and raised in Mesa, Arizona, I traveled a little after college and then settled in San Diego for just over 9 years. I loved it there and it was where my business was born and my artist’s soul really blossomed. In 2008 I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona and started learning new ways to love and be inspired by the desert.
One of the many reasons I love being a designer is that it is a perfect vehicle for my creativity and allows me to work with clients in a co-creative process that I enjoy immensely. I’ve been in business for myself since 2001. I was laid off from my job as a webmaster for a commercial real estate company and I jumped right into freelancing and never looked back!
My design education actually started after I earned a BA in Women’s Studies from Arizona State University. I started with an intensive certificate course for would-be designers who already had a college degree and didn’t want another one. From there I honed my skills and design eye on the job. I am a seeker and a curious soul who loves reading and learning, which serves me well in the ever-changing worlds of design and technology.
I have been on a spiritual quest since I was 14 and an informal student of Buddhism for the last few years. I have four tattoos and will undoubtedly get more. In September 2007 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After surgery, an abundance of fantastic help and care, lots of emotional journeying and plenty of rest, I am healthier than ever before. I live (in sin, as my Dad would say) with my very tall (6’6″) and very sweet Canadian boyfriend. And, although I have for some time now lived quite the above-board lifestyle, I definitely have a dark side and a mildly shady past. All of this contributes to my intuitive process and, of course, shows up in my work and my art! I am a mixed-media artist and sculptor, learn more about my art here.
